OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH

by K. Denise McQueen

Luke 13:18-21

Then said he, what is the kingdom of God like? And whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took, and cast into his garden and it grew and waxed a great tree and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. And again he said, whereunto shall I liken of the kingdom of God. it is leaven in which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

The scripture is saying that faith is the substance of things not seen that is yet to come. Oftentimes, we doubt the things we desire will ever happen in our lives. We may pray for the Lord to give us certain things, and after time has gone by, we start to doubt these things will ever happen. We all must remember that God does all things in his timing, not ours.

Most times when we want something and it doesn't happen soon enough, we start saying, when is it going to happen? Over and over again we ask until we then decide forget it!, I give up. We'll guess what? In that very moment is when the Lord starts to step in on our behalf. Because what this does is let him know that you are now going to turn it over to him who is in total control of the situation and the only one who can allow it to happen anyway.

When we pray to the Lord and ask for something, we must let it go and not continually pray the same prayer every day; he heard you the first time. He isn't deaf or has a speaking problem, so there is no need to keep repeating the same prayer because he heard you and is working it out for you. Trust, believe, have faith and patience that he will give us our heart's desire (in his timing). The whole purpose of having faith is knowing and believing he will and can do all things that is asked in his name's sake.

I'm a firm believer that sometimes I may want something and think in my mind that this is what I want and need and it may not be what the Lord wants for me to have. So, what I will do then is pray and ask him if what I desire is of his will.

We may see something or someone that we feel is in our best interest and that may not be true. Sometimes we may not be receiving what we ask because it is not what he wants us to have, so be careful what you ask for because you may just get the wrong thing and can't get rid of it. And there are other times when the timing for you to receive your blessing is not good.

You may think you need this right now and perhaps this isn't  good for you to receive it right now in your life. It may be better for your receive it a year or two years down the road, when you are mentally and physically more able to handle and be prepared for whatever it is that you desire.

God doesn't want us as human beings to worry or try to fix anything on our own that we have no control over. We cannot change people; all we can do is change ourselves and the way we think. This is his job. Just think if we continually just prayed to him in all matters, then there would be less sickness in the world today, such as heart attack, high blood pressure, strokes, etc.

Having a small amount of mustard seed faith and continuing to believe that God will bless you in his timing that God feels is good for you. It will eventually grow and manifest in the best interest that he allows for you. Be encouraged and wait on the Lord!
