WORDS TO THE WISE (Psalm 37:1-13)

Do not fret because of those who are evil
    or be envious of those who do wrong;

for like the grass they will soon wither,
    like green plants they will soon die away.

Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:

He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;

do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
    do not fret—it leads only to evil.

For those who are evil will be destroyed,
    but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
    though you look for them, they will not be found.

But the meek will inherit the land
    and enjoy peace and prosperity.

The wicked plot against the righteous
    and gnash their teeth at them;

but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
    for he knows their day is coming.

In these uneasy times, we should all be taking this time to reflect on our relationship with the Lord. Oftentimes, it takes something major to happen in one's life in order to realize the goodness of the Lord. Don't panic, grow weary or be discouraged. Know that the lord will always be with you. I'm hearing a lot of folks say that their bored right now being at home. Take this time to build your relationship with our Lord and Saviour. NOTES ALONG THE JOURNEY
Making Notes

Our mission to inspire each individual to aspire to their personal greatness through discovering their true purpose.

I am not the captain of my soul, God is. He wants you to share in passion of His glory

The end for which God created the world

  1. That the glory of God might be magnified in the universe

  2. That Christ’s ransomed people from all times and all nations would rejoice in God above all things.

Purpose is found in the discipline, without discipline you have no purpose. – Partayke!

It’s not what happens, it’s what you do. What happens is going to happen. The sun is going to rise and set. It rains on two men, one becomes rich the other poor. What was the difference? The one who became rich didn’t complain about the rain and kept working diligently towards his goal. – paraphrasing something I heard from Jim Rohn

How to pray? (Matthew 6:9-13)

“Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your name,
 your kingdom come, your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one.”

WHY FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION
Shy Girls Smiling for the Camera

God did not put His children on this earth to be failures.

He put us here to be great. He put us here to shine, to be the light of this world. He made us in His image and it’s up to us to rise up. To take courage and be the children He expects us to be. To help us, especially in our difficult times, He even left an instructional book filled with His wisdom and knowledge. There’s really no excuse for not being the very best one can be and being the light of this world as He intended.

Have you ever been in a group setting where the presenter or moderator asked a question that you knew the answer to but you were afraid to speak up and answer the question? This is accepting failure. Failure to rise up and be heard. Failure to showcase your knowledge. Failure to interact in a group setting. Sure you may be shy or were afraid you may have been incorrect and everyone would laugh at you. But even so, where does this fear come from? It comes from the fact that you’ve been accepting failure for too long. Who cares if you’re answer is incorrect and the group laughs at you. I’ve even noticed in recent seminars the speaker will offer prizes or in drastic cases money sometimes up to 100 dollars for the person who will just break free from the failure mentality of the group and take a leap of faith to speak up. Why does one have to be motivate by money to rise up? You should already be up, you’re a child of God. If you stay risen up through God, you won’t have to be motivated by money or anything else to rise up.

THE ART OF GIVING

Having lived in California the past number of years, I’ve had many the opportunity to learn how to give. There are people who are less fortunate almost everywhere I go. At the gas station, at the beach, coming up off the many freeway off ramps, outside various stores, restaurants etc. However until recently, and through many a trial and error, I've finally learned how to give. Let me explain…Have you ever attempted to give to someone in need but they rejected what it was you were offering either money or food? Did you leave wandering what their problem was because hey you were only trying to help and they were obviously in need? Well this has happened to me on multiple occasions. I would casually walk up to someone in need and offer money or food but the person I was offering to would decline and seemingly for no apparent reason. Now this doesn’t happen all the time I’d like to point out but it does seem to happen more often than not. So I would find myself walking away like what did I say or do wrong? Why would someone, apparently in need, decline help? I then thought of the experiences I was having as some kind of spiritual test from God on how to give. Each person I passed by in need is almost like God’s challenge for me to give and to give the right way. I finally came to the conclusion that the way I was giving must be totally wrong. It says in the bible that we are to give effortlessly almost without thought. The right hand should not know what the left hand is doing (Matthew 6:3). I took the opportunity to reflect on the way I was giving. I realized when I would offer help, I found myself asking the person in need, do you want money or do you want food and I would quickly and surprisingly would get an emphatic no for an answer. One day upon entering Trader Joe’s there was a man lying on the ground. He didn’t ask for anything and I didn’t offer anything. When I came out I saw a young woman who had purchased food in the store prepare and present the food to the person laying on the ground. Right there on the ground, plate fork the works. Wow, I was amazed! She did this for this man that she didn’t know, at least I doubt she knew, without any hesitation or thought. God was showing me, and anyone else who may have been paying attention, how to give. For a while I kept doing it my old way with the same old results as old habits are hard to break. Sometimes I felt the urge to be like the girl at Trader Joe’s and just give of myself like she did but then I would make some excuse like, they probably still won’t accept what I’m giving or I’ll look silly to people who may be watching. Fast forward months later me and a friend went to Costco for lunch. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza he got a hot dog and soda. I grabbed a table while he was attending to the soda and getting condiments for his hot dog. While sitting at the table I noticed a man less fortunate sitting two tables in front of me. He was by himself with nothing to eat. Without thought or hesitation, I ripped off a large piece of my pizza and slid the piece of pizza on the table directly in front of the man. He simply said thank you. I sat back down and realized I just learned the art of giving.

BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

Be happy with what you have. Sounds pretty simple right? Well not exactly. A lot of people are constantly focused on what they don't have. This naturally trains your brain to be in "lack" mode. How can you expect to have more if you're training yourself to lack even more. Case in point, the other day I was talking to a gentleman at the coffee shop who is in the lawn care business. He started talking about how bad his truck looked and how it was affecting the amount of new business he could be getting. He mentioned several other issues that were preventing him from getting a new truck. Again his mind is focused on lack and not on opportunity. He pointed to the truck and asked me my thoughts. Indeed the truck was in bad shape. The truck was old and he had stuff barely hanging on making the old beat up truck look even worse. I turned to him and said what he should do is to stop focusing so much on the new truck that he doesn't have and the many negative reasons why he doesn't have it but instead focus on what he has and deal with it in a positive manner. I explained to him how he could see his truck as opportunity by playing off the Sanford and Son theme for example. In other words, have fun with the fact that even though the truck is old and beat up have fun with the situation. Something like, I may have the worst looking truck but I do the best work. Or, your yard looked like my truck until I showed up, lol. You get the idea, just have fun with it. He got the idea as well. He perked up, started smiling and offered some of his own ideas, which were much better than mine, of how he could have fun with the old beat up truck. He even brought me a cup of coffee as a way to say thanks!

HOW TO STOP PROCRASTINATION

When I started Partayke I had a million questions on how to do this or how to do that etc. This paralyzed me into procrastinating and in most cases doing nothing at all. For months this went on until one day it came to me. I am being commissioned by God to complete this project. I immediately got energized and found the momentum and drive to get the project completed. When you find yourself in a similar situation, just remind yourself you're being commissioned by God to complete this project and you too will have the energy, momentum, drive and purpose to get the project completed.

WANT MORE COURAGE?

According to Winston Churchill "Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." When you take time to really think about this, it makes total sense. Most people fail then immediately give up. What are you lacking when you just give up? That's right courage! Next time you fail at something just keep smiling, laugh it off, learn from your mistakes and keep it moving. You are getting more and more courageous each time.

HAVE FAITH

Going down the same road will most assuredly manage the same results. The only reason you don't take a different road is because you're comfortable with the road you're on no matter how bad the results may be. You're also afraid of taking the new road because you don't know what results may lay ahead. This is where faith comes in. You must have faith and the belief that God is there for you to take a different road and realize different results.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR MIND FOR GREATNESS!

I recommend people to start reading Shakespeare. I say this because Shakespeare is what I call a "complete body of work." Shakespeare has been attributed to writing at least 37 plays during his lifetime. Each one can be considered a masterpiece. Let's take a look at Hamlet for example.Hamlet is the longest of Shakespeare's plays taking roughly 3.5 hours to act out on stage. It is epic and had Shakespeare completed just this one play he would be considered a genius. However, in addition to Hamlet he did at least 36 other plays. By reading Hamlet or other plays by Shakespeare I feel you are expanding your mind making way for greater things to happen in your own life. Think about it. In today's microwave world of wanting everything right here and now you are psychologically (moreover subconsciously) programming your mind for the "instant gratification." Hence, when a lengthy project comes up (as most projects of value are) you balk at the very thought of it. You are in essence shrinking your brains capacity when you should be expanding it.  This is where Shakespeare comes in. Here is an individual who completed an epic body of work during his lifetime. Once you grasp the brevity and the "completeness" as I like to call it just think of the amazing things you can accomplish in your own life. I honestly think that this is why Shakespeare is so relevant today, well that and the fact that his body of work is very good. There are of course other complete works as I call them such as the Harry Potter novels and by all means the Bible, which some say Shakespeare may have had a part in writing. I don't know about that but reading Shakespeare is a great place to start, to expand your mind and get it conditioned for completing great things.
