I can’t believe the amazing week and weekend we had! First, our last regular season match was unbelievable. We handily beat a team of girls who had played volleyball before. Just to preface 7 out of 11 had never played on a team and 3 of them knew nothing about volleyball. Considering where these girls came from, I mean the second game of the season, we lost because NO ONE could get their serve over. By the end of the season 100% could their services over and 8 out of the 11 girls could serve overhand. There was no doubt about it who owned this league and who were the champions.
I had some of my best people come out and support. My middle school best friend came and I had not seen her in 26 years! My best friend from college came. My aunt and uncle came to support. I just felt the love and that they all enjoyed it! That’s what it’s all about.
I was really trying to promote the team and having teammates on the bench to cheer but I did let it get to me and I think it did negatively impact the girls, BUT when I played we cheered from the bench more so to encourage our team. I get it but I’m trying to promote the team and having everyone participate on and off the court. I guess I am the only one that sees it differently and that’s fine.
Back to the positive though. We won our semi-final match but could sense that we were getting close to losing the second game. But with a few time outs, we regroup and got ourselves together!
On to the finals! We made plays on big points, but it was a hard-fought battle. Kailyn’s serve was ON POINT! Everything I had told her before to hit it deep with low trajectory and SHE DID! She got the ace at match point! What a storybook ending! SO FREAKIN’ AMAZING!
I just have such passion for the game. I LOVE IT! 😀
