As I have been trying to be more proactive in taking a media cleanse of mainly not watching television and spending less time looking at my cellphone, I have been enjoying reading more books. To give credit, where credit is do, my husband has inspired me to read more books by recommending specific titles to read and by his encouragement to me to start reading. From all the crazy and depressing things you see on the news and that headline social media and websites, I started to make reading a part of my daily routine. For the past few months, I have read numerous books of inspiration, motivation and about finding purpose. The more I read, I learn the reoccurring theme to happiness and success is being of service to others.

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room on earth." -Mohammad Ali Numerous titles that I have read in the past year include "Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive," "The Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change" "School of Greatness" and many others drive home the sentiment of giving without expecting anything in return. Being an only child and living in this world, you can easily get caught up in our egos and the "what's in it for me" mentality. As I continue to read and to become more open minded, I am realizing my true purpose on this earth and in this life. I was watching an interview between Anthony Bordain and Danny Trejos and when asked how he became successful, Danny Trejos responded,"Everything good that has happened to me is the direct result of helping someone else. You should dedicate your life to helping others." As I currently read "Ego is the Enemy," we need to "look for opportunities for someone other than yourself...help yourself by helping others." "Purpose is to pursue something outside of yourself." So I ask you, "What is YOUR PURPOSE?"
