As I did my hike this morning at the Culver City stairs, I observed my surroundings including the dirt covered cement and gritty hiking trails, but also the numerous people participating in hiking and climbing the stairs. As I saw people on all levels of the mountain, I realized the Culver City Mountain is a metaphor for life. We all have a common goal, which was to get up the mountain. People took different routes including walking up the steps, walking on one of the few hiking trails and walking up a paved street. People were walking at different speeds, running, some were taking breaks, while some just kept going. Some people walked solo and some performed the mountain with groups.
Compared to conquering the Culver City mountain, in life we all have a common goal to be successful and happy. We all take "different routes" to get to the top and take our own journey to get there. There are so many ways to get the top! Some people just take one step at a time, some people hustle, dedicate all their time and try to "run" to the top. Some people complete their task on their own, but most people complete their goal with surrounding people who motivate them to help them to get to the top. That's why you hear the advice to surround yourself with people that motivate, support and have done what you want to do.
The bigger the mountain and goal, the greater the reward! Just take one step at a time on your own journey and you will succeed! You will reach the TOP!
While I was hiking down the mountain, I had to look down and take one step at a time, but then also had to remind myself to look up at ENJOY the BIG PICTURE of the view!
Keep grinding and kill those small goals, but know you are inching your way to the TOP, THE BIG PICTURE, the ULTIMATE GOAL!
